ICAD 2016 # 27 & # 28

Happy Thursday all!! Hope your week is treating you well!!

I am just about caught up on my ICADs and have 2 more cards to share with you today!!

This first card isn't really inspired by anything in particular its just the result of me trying to use stamps and ephemera that I have had a while and haven't used. I like the vintage feel of it although I wouldn't call it vintage. Anyway, here it is:

#27

The next card started as a mop up card and I decided to practice drawing another face. As I have mentioned before, this is not a strong point for my art so this card was a challenge for me but I think it turned out ok. Here it is:

#28

The video for these cards is available ----> HERE <----

ICAD is pretty much about half way through!! I do hope you are enjoying the challenge!! Its been fun for me to take part in and has also been a way for me to practice parts of my art that I want to improve but I'm not brave enough to make anything too big just yet!!

Have you joined in on the ICAD fun?? If so, let me know in the comments below!! (I'd love to get a peek at your cards!!)

Well folks, thats all I have for today!! Check back soon for more!! Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day #25 & #26!

Hello everyone!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!!

I have been busy this morning trying to play catch up with ICAD after an adventure packed visit with my niece and nephews this past week!! I have several cards in the works that I will be posting very, very soon so be sure to watch out for those!!

For now I have ICAD #25 for you here:

The video for this card can be found ----> HERE <----

And #26:

Video for this card ----> HERE<----

If you have been reading my blog the inspiration for the first card is probably obvious. While my niece and nephews have been here there was hardly a day that went by that we weren't at the pool, so I thought why not document a bit of their visit with an ICAD!! The second card is also an ode to my visit with the kids and is two-fold 1) being that we saw the movie "Finding Dory" while they were here and there is a whale shark in that movie that the kids just loved and 2) its shark week and the kids were so interested watching and learning about the different kinds of sharks I just had to document it somehow!! So there ya have it!!

I hope you enjoy these cards and the others that are going to be coming soon!! Please let me know if you do in the comments below!!

See ya soon & until then, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day #24!!

Hey yall!!

As usual, I have fallen behind on my ICAD's because of the weekend!! I am so sorry!! Its just not the best time for me to be able to squeeze in art (Im trying to change that!!)  and to make it more difficult I have family visiting!! (Not that I am complaining because I have completely loved having them here.)  We have gone to the Alamo, painted pottery, swam, swam, and swam, played board games, made smores, went to the movies, gone geocaching... whew!!! Its been busy, busy, busy... but it sure has been FUN FUN FUN too!!

Anyway, I am trying to play catch up and was able to get ICAD #24 done. This one is inspired by my love for frogs and also because my nephews have been catching frogs on a daily basis so they just so happen to be on my mind. haha

Here ya go:

The video for this card can be found ----> HERE <----

I hope you enjoy it!! I had a lot of fun making this little guy and I think he turned out pretty good too!!

I will be trying to catch up and get back into regularly posting throughout this coming week so be sure to check back!!

Are yall having a great summer?? I sure hope so!! What fun things have you done/created?? Let me know in the comments below!! I would love to hear from you and get to know you!!

Until next time, take care my friends and HAPPY CRAFTING!!

Hey guys!! Thanks for stopping by today!!

I have ICAD #23 done and ready to share!! This is a fun one that is a little bit of paper piecing in the mix!! I was inspired to do this piece because I wake up every morning to the birds outside chirping and singing their songs and it makes me happy.  I hope this card will make you happy too!!

Here it is:

The Video can be found ----> HERE <----

These birds are kinda quirky and not super realistic but I like them and it was definitely fun creating them!!

So thats all for today! Check back in tomorrow to see the next ICAD!!

ICAD 2016 Day# 22!!

Hello Everybody!!

Happy Hump Day!!

Todays ICAD is a real quick one that got reworked from a card I just wasn't feeling. Does that happen to you?? I go through periods where I love everything I make and then I go through periods where I struggle a bit to get something I am even remotely happy with. Thats kinda what todays ICAD is. Its not wonderful its not horrible, it just kinda is what it is!!

So here it is:

The video can be found ----> HERE <----

Thanks for stopping by to check out todays card!!

ICAD 2016 Day # 21

Here we go folks!!

I have an attempt at drawing a face for todays ICAD. When I looked at the mopped up ink that was already on this card I couldnt stop seeing a little red headed lady so that is what I went with!! Is it perfect? Nah!! But I am completely ok with that because as they always say, "practice makes perfect" so maybe one day I will be an excellent drawer/painter of faces... or maybe not, who knows!!

Is there a certain thing that challenges you when it comes to art?? Let me know below!!

Anyway, here is todays ICAD:

The video for this can be found ----> HERE <----

Thanks for stopping by today everyone!! I hope you are enjoying my daily ICAD posts!! If you are let me know in the comments!! I would love to hear from you!!

Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 # 17, 18, & 19!!

Hey guys!!

I have ICADs 17, 18, & 19 for you right now!!

#17 was a mess and I fussed with it alot. I must've been in a weird mood trying to create that day or something. Anyway, here it is:

The video for this ICAD was all over the place so I scrapped it and decided to just share a picture here on my blog. This is definitely not my favorite card but thats ok, some days are just like that!!

Moving along, ICAD #18 & 19 are two cards I created together. (I have done this before the previous weekend I believe) These were fun to create and I liked the way they turned out a lot better than the previous days card!! So here they are:

The video for these ICAD's can be found ---->HERE<----

So, I hope you all enjoy these cards and I will see ya around soon!!

Happy Crafting!!

ICAD 2016 Day #16

Ok Folks!!

Here is ICAD #16 for ya:

The video can be found ----> HERE <----

This was another quickie (taking about 24 minutes total) but I like it and I think the metal mesh heart really makes the card!! What do you think?? Let me know in the comments below!!

I am enjoying the ICAD process but I am also losing a bit of momentum creativity wise. I'd love to hear your suggestions and ideas on cards I should create. Themes, colors, elements, whatever it is, if you want me to try it on one of my ICAD's let me know!!

That's all for now! See ya again soon!! HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day #15!!

Hello all!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! How are you guys doing?? Is summer treating you well?? Its hot and humid here in Houston! After I am finished writing this I will hopefully be headed to the pool! (its the only place to be outside in the summer in my opinion!!) I have my niece and nephews visiting next week so I am sure I will be living at the pool during their stay here and that's fine by me!!
What is your go to activity for the summer? Let me know in the comments!!

And now, the highly anticipated ICAD of the day is here:
(I know I have a flare for the dramatic..haha)

The video is available ---->HERE<----

I must be on a butterfly kick because this is my 3rd card to have butterflies on it!! What can I say?? Butterflies are definitely beautiful, inspiring, and fun to create projects with!! Enough said?? I think so!

This was a copy of something I have done before on a bigger scale and I wanted to try it again for todays ICAD. I really like using clear embossing powder to make any die-cut stiffer and sturdier (thats what I did for the butterflies!!). Overall, I think the card turned out great!!

If you like it let me know!! Like, Comment, Share and Follow me!!

OK guys, thats all for now!! Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day #14!!

Hey there everyone!!

I am so sorry I am late getting my ICAD up for the day, it has been a busy day for me!! But fear not my friends because I managed to squeeze in a little time to craft!! Hooray!!

Total time for this card was just about 20 minutes. I know I've said it before but it bares repeating, ICAD is a wonderful way for those of us who are short on time to still get some of our crafty energy out every day. I think that is what I love most about it!!

If you want to learn more about ICAD please visit: -daisyyellowart.com/icad

So anyway, here it is folks, ICAD #14:

The video for it can be found ---->HERE<---

Are you all enjoying the ICAD series? Have you decided to join in on the fun?? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day#13!!

Happy Monday everyone!!
Did you all have a good weekend??  I sure did! My husband and I decided on a whim to start learning about different cultures and cuisines so we went to the local bookstore and found an awesome book on German food, culture, and history. It was a perfect start for us because we are both from German heritage. After that we went to a local German restaurant to kick our journey off by feeding our faces with wiener snitzschel and sausage!! It was really fun and adventurous for us!!

Anyway, I have ICAD #13 for you guys today. The inspiration for this card is 2 fold. First, my friend and I have been talking about writing a childrens book about a gnome and second, Germany is where the cute little ground dwellers first made their debut!!

So here it is folks:

The video for it can be found ---->HERE<----

I hope you like!! If you do let me know!!

I will be back at it again tomorrow, so until then, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day # 11 & 12!!

Hey all! Thanks for stopping by!!

Here are the ICAD's for this weekend (#11 & #12):

The Video for these cards can be found ---->HERE<----

I had to do them together as I am working around a busy schedule and time with my family. I hope you like them. I think they are bright and cheerful and remind me that being myself is always the best way to go no matter what anyone else may say.  Anyway, they both go together, sorta like a small mini series or something. I usually create my ATC's in a very similar way in little series of 2, 3, or 4 cards. Maybe I will create a video on that soon!! Right now, I am still getting used to recording and editing videos so I don't want to be overly ambitious especially since ICAD is a daily event, BUT in the future that is definitely something I want to share with ya'll!!

Well, it looks like I spoke too soon about the rain being gone because as I write this it is raining out. Its a weird rain though, it's bright and sunny and pouring.  At least there is sun so I will consider myself lucky!

Hopefully you are enjoying your weekend!! Since I am sharing both ICADS for this weekend I will be posting again on Monday. So until then, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day #10!!

Hey guys!! Thanks for stopping by!!

I can't believe we have made it into the double digits with ICAD!! YAY!! That means 10 down and 51 more to go!! Wow! When I put it that way it doesn't seem like much progress at all does it??  At least it's been fun!! I am really looking forward to the end when I can see the cards altogether. Any suggestions on what I should do with all of them?  Maybe make a small journal?? I don't know!! Let me know your ideas in the comments below!!

Anyhoo, as usual here is a picture of my ICAD for today:

The video for this card can be found ----> HERE <----

I just love this one!! What do you guys think?? Since green and blue are probably my top 2 favorite colors (green for sure) that's most likely why I like it. I also really like dragonflies and apparently here in Texas we have over 225 species of them!!

Well everyone, I hope you all have a very wonderful and relaxing weekend!! Do you have any fun plans?? What craft projects have you been into lately?? Let me know in the comments!! I would love to hear from you!!

Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016 Day #9

Hey everybody!! Thanks for stopping by!

Today I have ICAD Day #9 for you guys. This one is influenced heavily by a post that I saw on pinterest.  I was having one of those days where I wasn't feeling too inspired so I was perusing the internet looking for ideas when I came across an art piece I just adored!!  At first, I thought I was just going to use the color scheme because I really liked the combination of orange, red, and purple BUT I ended up doing my own version of the entire piece, a "DUPE" of the orginal if you will. You can view the inspiration piece
---> HERE<----

So with that said, I take no credit for the overall idea of my card for today. All of those kuddos go to the original artist along with my many thanks for being my inspiration. Her piece of art is just lovely!! You all should check out her page that I linked above if you get the chance!! She is super talented and you can see why I was so inspired by her work!!

Anyhoo, I feel I have to write all that because I would want someone to do the same if they were to be inspired by a piece I have created. Its important to give credit where credit is due... Am I right?!?!

Okie dokie, so if you are interested in watching my process for this card you can find my video for it
---->HERE<---

And now, drum-roll please (haha!) ... here is a picture of my card:

I can only hope it's half as good as the inspiration piece. I do love it though and had a lot of fun making it!!

It's not too late to join in on ICAD 2016. Visit the official website for more information : daisyyellowart.com/icad

What are your plans for the weekend?? Where do you find inspiration?? Let me know in the comments!!

Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING everyone!!

ICAD 2016 # 7!!!

Pick-A-Stick Challege (#PASC616) & ICAD 2016 #6!!

Hello everybody!!

Have any of you heard of the Pick-A-Stick challenge (PASC) on facebook?? Well, if you havent you should definitely check it out. It is a group of women who host a challenge where each month one of them will pick 10 sticks that have a variety of different prompts on them that you will have to incorporate into your page. The one rule is that the sticks must be used in the order they are drawn. Anyway, if you want to learn more about the group please visit their FACEBOOK page.

So for todays post I am sharing a video on my interpretation of the June 2016 PASC. Here is a picture of the finished page:

The video for my process is available here.

Also for today, I am sharing my ICAD Day #6. I haven't been able to edit my video for that challenge so for now here is a picture:

This was another quick ICAD for me. I had an index card I used to soak up extra paint and things from other projects for my base. Next, I stamped flowers. Then I took some Inks and colored in the flowers. Finally, I added some gesso splatters to finish the page. Really quick I stamped the word Summertime and BOOM... another fun and quick card in the bag!! I hope you like it!!

How was everyone's Monday?? Do you have any exciting plans for summer this year? Are you doing either the ICAD or PASC?? Let me know in the comments!!

Until next time, HAPPY CRAFTING!!

ICAD 2016- Day #4 & #5!!!!

Phew, this weekend was far busier than I anticipated!! Saturday was full of running errands from what seemed like dawn to dusk. One of my brothers is getting married in a little over a month and my husband and I are both in the wedding party so the majority of our running around was to get stuff for that. Most of the day we were looking for silver high heels for me which was a bust. I am just not a heel kinda girl so that made the task even more difficult! Plus, I wanted it all, style, price, most of all COMFORT. HA! I'm not sure there is such a thing with a heel. I guess will just have to get something I can manage for a few hours and then change into flats at the reception!

Anyway, today I played catch up on some cleaning around the house and laundry. I only about an hour ago finally had a chance to sit down a craft a bit so my #4 & #5 ICAD's are complete. For now I will post some pictures here and I might upload the videos for them later.  These were both quick but that is the great thing about ICAD... it can be as quick or as lengthy as you have time for!!  I hope you like them!!

                                                                                 #4

                                                                               #5

Tomorrow I plan to post a video for sure so be on the look out for that!!

How was your weekend? Are you working on any fun craft projects? Let me know in the comments!!

Until tomorrow, happy crafting everyone!!

ICAD 2016- Day #3!!

Hey guys (and gals)!!  A new video is up on my YouTube for day #3 of the ICAD event!! Here are some pictures of the card:

You can check out the video here!!

For this card I decided to make my own sunshine since Houston is full of dreary clouds and rain :-( and what better way to do that than to use sunflowers!! Sunflowers are my absolute favorite because they are bright and cheery and always make me smile when I look at them!! I hope today's card will make you smile and bring a little sunshine to your day!! :-)

I was planning to go blueberry picking this weekend but with the weather that probably isn't happening so I will most likely end up in my craft room getting my hands messy in some way!! Perhaps if I am feeling super ambitious and inspired I might even make a video to share with all of you!!

So, what are your plans for the weekend? How is the weather where you live?? Do you have any crafty projects you are working on?? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to hear from you!!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone and, as always, Happy Crafting!!!!

ICAD 2016- Day #2!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you all have amazing plans for your weekend!! It looks like more rain for the Houston area....booo!!! Thats ok though, it will give me a good excuse to stay in and get my creativity going!!

Alright, since I didnt have a video for my ICAD day 2 I almost forgot to share my card with you!! So here it is folks!! This was a fast and simple card using scrap papers from my desk, building up layers with acrylic paint and stencils, and using magazine cut out words. I hope you like it!!

I will be posting the video for day 3 sometime soon!! Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting!!

ICAD 2016- Day#1

Here is Day 1 everyone!!
I had so much fun making this and getting my hands messy!! Be sure to check out the video here!!

Be on the watch for more posts and videos to come!! Until Then, happy crafting!!

ICAD 2016!!

Hello all!! I am joining the ICAD (index card a day) bandwagon this year and I am really excited!! I have always wanted to do it but have never been able to. For those of you who have never heard of it here is more information via the official sitehttp://daisyyellowart.com/icad/icad-faq.html. Please check it out! it is a very well orgainized and fun community of great people with even greater ideas!! You might even get a wild bug to join in on the fun!!

So anyway, I will do MY BEST to make a card each day of this event and also a video. My first 2 cards are already complete. I will be putting out a video for the first one so be on the lookout for that!! The second one I tried to film but my phones storage was full so I couldnt get it working! It took me forever to realize what the problem was but now that I know hopefully that wont happen often!! OK so, if you look at the ICAD website there are weekly prompts and daily prompts. Personally, for the first two cards I chose not to follow the prompts but that may not always be the case. I'm sure they will be helpful when I just cant come up with an idea!!

I find challenges like this very helpful for getting through some creative slumps. Sometimes taking just a little time out of the day to create and explore really develops your art and an index card is the perfect size to really be able to do that even if you have limited time!!

So, how about you guys?? Will you be doing ICAD this year with me? What do you do to break through your creative slumps? Id love to hear from you!!
